WHAT: Adopt a cottage of girls from The Boys and Girls Harbor. Wish list for each girl is listed below. Please let Cheri Payne know which item you’d like to provide so we do not have a duplication of gifts. You may provide one item from a child’s list. You may provide all items from their list. You can go in together with another couple(s) and provide an item(s) or simply donate cash and we’ll buy the remaining items not donated. Whatever is easiest!
WHO: The Boys and Girls Harbor is located in LaPorte, TX and was founded in 1947 by the Optimist Club of Downtown Houston. They provide a safe place to live for approximately 70 youth of all ages. The Harbor provides full time living arrangements for children in crisis due to neglect, abandonment, abuse or family hardship. Children arrive in need of food, clothing, medical attention and much more. The Harbor offers a stable home environment, complete with caring discipline and counseling aimed at halting patterns of family abuse. They are not a United Way Agency and receive no federal grants. WHEN: Bring wrapped gifts with the child’s name marked on the package(s) to the Holiday Party on Dec 2 to display. If you are unable to attend the party, bring to the Nov club meeting or contact Cheri to arrange delivery. Gifts will be given to the girls on Dec 15 at their annual holiday party.
